The Jewish Museum of Canada will be a dynamic, learning-focused Jewish museum and educational facility located in the heart of the spectacular new Sherman Campus. The first and only Jewish institution of its kind in Canada, the Jewish Museum will celebrate the Canadian Jewish experience and its vibrant history, explore the richness and complexities of Jewish spirituality and identity, and commemorate and honour victims and survivors of the Holocaust.
The Jewish Museum will be housed in one of the campus’ signature buildings along with the Koffler Centre of the Arts and the Leah Posluns Theatre. And linking together the entire Sherman Campus will be the Canadian Jewish Walk of Fame, celebrating achievements in science, medicine, technology, education, the arts, sports, industry, philanthropy and other fields of endeavour. Together, they will create one of the most significant Jewish history and culture destinations in North America.
The Jewish Museum will be organized into three main permanent galleries – the Jewish Experience Gallery, the Jewish Life in Canada Gallery and the Sarah & Chaim Neuberger Holocaust Education Centre. Each exhibit area will communicate the unique and rich stories of Jewish life through a series of interactive and multi-faceted exhibits. It is expected that tens of thousands of students, educators, community members, tourists and others will visit the Centre every year.
